To Lushkin : 14 August 2005 | 6 June 2016
A murderous gas fire bent in sending me across the road.
This is how I encountered this sanctuary in the midst of the city.
Fall of 1976.
I survived the gas fire.
Madonna, in her silence, greeted me.
Those ancient trees, enchanting reminders of my deep dreams.
Then, I was not aware of the poetry of Philip Larkin.
Nor of his description of this woods as a “sanctuary of nature”.
Hence, I appropriated it.
THE SILENCE OF STONE
her features no longer scarred by the ravages of bygone years
Work in progress.
